Coffee and Connections

Coffee and Connections happen between our two services at 10:30AM downstairs in the Social Hall. Come grab some coffee and refreshments and meet some new people.

Classic Worship

Our 11AM classic service features traditional hymnody lead by our Sanctuary Choir and the same engaging message from our Senior Pastor as our earlier service.

Sunday Options for Children

Children (Nursery through 5th grade) can enjoy a safe, clean, fun environment at both 9:30 and 11AM. If you have kids, check-in for them is downstairs. Drive around to the lower parking lot in the back and enter through the double doors with the green awning. One of our hosts will be glad to direct you.

Message from Pastor Bill Hutcheson

August 28, 2016

Brothers and Sisters,

We all believe God Rules, which means we believe God is sovereign over His world and operates on a time schedule meant to accomplish His will. His will is right and His timing is best.

Seeking to operate according to God’s will and in God’s timing, Mary Beth and I have recently come to the prayerful conclusion that will I should retire as of December 31, 2016.

While the decision has been made only recently, Mary Beth and I see God’s fingerprints all over the past several months, preparing us for this decision, and we can identify clear confirmation of His timing. This decision brings a deep sadness. We have shared so much of life with you. I have served you in the role of pastor and Mary Beth as musician/choir member so long that the prospect of leaving these roles grieve us. Even so, God has granted us a peace.

Some may ask, “Why now?” The best answer I can offer is that I believe I have completed my purpose under God in Dahlonega Baptist Church. My disposition, spiritual gifts, and skills have enabled me to lead the congregation to this point. We all believe God has a purposeful future for our church, but DBC needs a breath of fresh air as God leads you into that future.

Over the past three weeks I have communicated this understanding to the Personnel Committee, the Board of Directors, the Deacon leadership, and the Staff. These leaders hold important positions both in this transition period and beyond.

I praise God for the privilege of being called by Him to serve in the role of pastor for 36 years. I thank God and you for the privilege of serving as your pastor for the last 23 years.

You will always hold a special place in our hearts. Of course, we are praying for DBC in the months of transition and will continue our prayers after our departure as you seek new leadership and follow God into His future.

Now, counting this week, we have remaining eighteen weeks together. Let us, each one, commit to God to be so surrendered to Him that, individually and corporately, every word we utter, every action we take, and every decision we make regarding the transition and the future of DBC will be useful by God to prepare DBC to enter His future both stronger and more united in Christ.

May God bless the future of Dahlonega Baptist Church.
